Day 3 of the six-day meet for horse racing at Sun Downs is set for 1 p.m. today, with an eight-race card.
The majority of those races will be thoroughbred events, with mpost of the stable’s quarterhorses taking the weekend off.
Today’s feature will be the eighth-race Intermountain Classic, which features a six-horse field going at 6 furlongs.
Quatorze Stone, a 4-year-old owned and trained by Don Young, is the oddsmaker’s favorite at 2-to-1 odds.
In what is perhaps an even bigger highlight for horse racing fans, I’m Pure Country will make an appearance between the seventh and eighth races in what is termed his retirement day.
I’M Pure Country’s grandfather was Seattle Slew, and his father was Slewlado.
The 12-year-old has always been a fan favorite throughout the Northwest tracks, including Sun Downs. But he has also been hampered with ankle injuries over his career.
He will parade in front of the grandstand today, then retire to a nice pasture.
First post is at 1 p.m.
Trey had a really rough day last Sunday, losing $85.
That brings the original imaginary bankroll that started at $300 down to $181.30.
We remain undaunted.
Picking Pursue the Moon for the first half of the Daily Double in the first, and we’re throwing $2 across the board on her too.
We’ll take Countess Aluerdine for the second half of the DD in the second. Plus $5 to win on her.
In the third, it’s a $3 quinella on Awesome Corona and Carry On Cappy.
For the fourth, it’s $2 across the board on Karime Tothemountain.
We’ll take $4 to win on Colorful Tune in the fifth. We’re boxing an exacta on Brutally Handsome and Shakalaka in the sixth.
For the seventh, we’ll take Chat ‘n Cut for the first half of the Late Double, and combine him with My Chief for a $3 quinella. Finally, in the eighth, we like Quatorze Stone for the second half of the Late Double. We’ll box a $2 trifecta with it and The Motion Man and Marshland.
That’s $47 in wagers.
