The backstroke has been a stroke of success for former Richland High School swimmer Lisa Bratton at the U.S. national championships in Irvine, Calif.
Bratton, who finished third in the 200-meter backstroke Thursday night and secured a spot in this month’s Junior Pan Pacific Championships in Hawaii, was fourth in Saturday’s “B” final of the 100 back. She was timed in 1 minute, 2.15 seconds, just off her heat-winning time of 1:02.01 that put her in the top 16.
The incoming Texas A&M freshman qualified for nationals with a time of 1:02.32.
Bratton, who also swam the 50 back and 400 individual medley at nationals, will wrap up the competition today with the 200 IM.
