Richland’s Cole Lorenzo bounced back Thursday during the final round of the Washington State Men’s Amateur at Wine Valley Golf Club in Walla Walla.
Lorenzo, who fell off the lead Wednesday after making five bogeys, wrapped up the three-day tournament with a 2-under-par 69 and tied for second with Frank Garber of Kirkland at 3-under 210. Lorenzo helped himself with an eagle on the par-4 13th hole.
Lorenzo and Garber finished a stroke behind winner Tyler Salsbury of Enumclaw. Salsbury, a junior on the University of Washington men’s golf team, made a 4-foot par putt on the final hole to complete his title-clinching round of 71.
Walla Walla’s Tyler Daniels shot a 72 and finished in a tie for sixth. Kennewick’s Nick Mandell (74) and Richland’s Drew McCullough (75) were among six players tied for 17th at 5-over 218.
Washington Junior Golf Association:Richland’s Ezra Arneson and Nick Yamauchi, Pasco’s Jalayne Martinez and Kennewick’s Therese Warner advanced to the final day of the Washington Junior Golf Association state tournament in Spokane.
Arneson shot a 5-over 76 at Manito and was tied for 12th overall in the boys 16-17 flight at 6-over 149. Matt Marrese of Bellevue led the division with a 4-under 139.
Martinez, who had a 2-under 70 at Hangman Valley, moved into fourth overall in the girls 16-17 flight. She was nine strokes behind leader Olivia Benzin (72) of Tacoma.
Yamauchi (73-75) was tied for fifth in the boys 14-15 flight, and Warner (76-78) was third in the girls 12-13 flight.
