The Kennewick Dusters lost their opening game in a heartbreaker as the Yakima Valley Peppers scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh with two out for a 7-6 victory in Central Washington League AA district baseball play Saturday in Selah.
But the Dusters rebounded later in the day with an 8-7 victory over the Apple Valley Blues as Cory Schouviller and Ryan Dearing each drove in two runs.
The Dusters will play the Peppers again at 5 p.m. Monday. Kennewick has to beat Yakima twice today to earn the top seed to state.

SOUTHRIDGE BANDITS 11, WEST VALLEY 0: The Southridge Bandits pounded out nine hits en route to routing West Valley in a AA CWL District tournament game.
Ethan Sanders and Brayton DeVoir each had doubles, while pitcher Trenton Nett tossed a complete-game 3-hitter.
Southridge plays Walla Walla at 1 p.m. today at Southridge High School.

Junior Legion A regionals: The Kennewick Pepsi Cola Dusters topped Mead 10-0 in the opening round of the Junior Legion A 4x4 regional tournament at LaPierre Field in Kennewick.
Asher Mancinelli tossed a complete-game two-hitter, and Hunter Mulderig, Tyler Lloyd and Drake Ofsthun each had two hits to lead Kennewick (21-3), which will face Bellingham at 2 p.m. today.
Bellingham defeated Olympia 10-0 in five innings in day’s other contest.

RICHLAND A KNIGHTS 6, PRAIRIE CARDINALS 3: Josh Ellis scattered seven hits and pitched a complete game, striking out three, as the Richland A Knights won their opening State Regional tournament game at Inglemoor High School in Seattle.
Cody Kjarmo, Derek Harder and Chase Wilson each added two hits for the Knights. Ray Eichten had an RBI, and Gavin March added an RBI double as well.
The Knights advance to play at 2 p.m. today against the winner of FM Sports and Colville in a winner-to-state game.
BABE RUTH 13: Napolean Pederson singled in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning as Twin Cities defeated Richland 6-5 in the final game of pool play at the Babe Ruth 13s State Tournament in Camas.
Richland did not qualify for bracket play with the loss.
Rosauers Open: Richland’s Drew McCullough fired a 9-under 63 during the second round of the Rosauers Open on Saturday, launching up the leader board into a tie for fifth place.
David Phay of Whidbey G&CC and Ryan Benzel of Pro Golf Discount in Lynnwood are tied for the lead at 135 after two rounds, 9-under par.
Brent Walsh of Coeur d’Alene Golf Course and Corey Prugh of Manito are tied for second at 136.
Then McCullough, an amateur out of Meadow Springs Country Club, leads a group of seven back at 137.
Steve Stull, also of Meadow Springs, is in a group tied for 20th at 139. The final round is today.
SHORELINE RUN: Richland’s Eli Shelby and Lindsay Bradley were the top finishers for both men and women, respectively, at the 37th Shoreline Run.
Shelby covered the 10K in 34 minutes, 13 seconds. Richland’s Jonah Sandoval was second at 37:02, while Kennewick’s Kyle Paulson was third at 37:17.
Bradley won the women’s race in 37:23. Kennewick’s Andrea Slonecker was second at 44:57, and Richland’s Nancy Hess was third at 45:46.
Dave Ross of Beaverton, Ore., won the Men’s 2K race in 11:34, while Richland’s Sue Turner was the fastest woman in the 2K at 17:02.
The race had 115 contestants.
