Trek Stemp had a run and an RBI playing in his first Pac-12 Conference game Friday, as Washington State hammered Arizona State 15-4 in Tempe, Ariz.
Stemp, a 2012 graduate of Kennewick High, was 2-for-5 at the plate in the rout.
Richland High graduate Brett Jacobs was 2-for-3 with two runs scored, while Southridge grad Matt Mendenhall was a defensive replacement late.
The Cougars (10-6 overall, 1-0 league) banged out 17 hits, as it was more than enough for starter Joe Pistorese who gave up four runs on seven hits in 62⁄3 innings.

Oregon 5, USC 2: Jake Reed gave up two runs on five hits in seven sharp innings to lead the visiting Ducks past the Trojans in both teams’ Pac-12 Conference openers.
Oregon State 6, Arizona 2: Kamiakin graduate Joey Jansen was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a walk in the visiting Beavers victory against the Wildcats in both teams’ Pac-12 Conference opener in Tucson, Ariz.
Washington 2, UCLA 0, susp.: The Huskies game in Los Angeles was suspended in the bottom of the fourth inning because of fog.
The game will resume at 1 p.m. today.
Gonzaga 3, San Francisco 2 (14): Former Columbia Basin pitcher Arturo Reyes threw six shutout innings in relief to help the Bulldogs win a marathon in their West Coast Conference opener in Spokane.
Reyes, a Warden High graduate, allowed no runs on three hits with a walk and five strikeouts to earn the victory.
Alex Bonczyk, who attended Walla Walla Community College, was 1-for-3 in the win.
UC Davis 7-7, Seattle 4-5: Kamiakin graduate Garrett Anderson gave up four runs on five hits in 61⁄3 innings in the nightcap, as the Redhawks were swept in a nonleague doubleheader at Bellevue’s Bannerwood Park. Richland High grad Connor Moore struck out the only batter he faced.
Utah Valley State sweeps doubleheader: Walla Walla Community College’s Dara Kosanke scored a run in each half of her team’s doubleheader, pinchrunning both times. The Wolverines defeated Fairleigh Dickinson 2-1 and Green Bay 6-2 in Kissimmee, Fla.
Western Oregon 11-6, Northwest Nazarene 4-2: Irrigon graduate Noelle Wright pitched both sides of a doubleheader sweep to the visiting Wolves in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference doubleheader in Nampa, Idaho.
Wright allowed eight runs — three earned — on 11 innings with a strikeout in six innings of relief in the opener. In the nightcap, she took the loss allowing six runs on 11 hits in eight innings.
Track and Field
Blue & Gold: Hermiston graduate Cristal Delgado was fourth in the 3,000 meters in 11 minutes, 28.77 seconds for Eastern Oregon in La Grande.
Stanfield graduate Tyler Watson was third in the 200 in 23.14 for the Mountaineers.
The Gonzaga men’s rowing team picked up wins from the varsity, junior varsity and third varsity teams in San Diego.
Southridge graduate Matt Hoitink was on the third varsity, which cruised to a nearly six-second win over UC San Diego.
