Rodney Bryant ran for two scores, threw for two more and led the Columbia Basin Junior College Gladiators to a 35-0 shutout of the Tacoma Knights on Saturday at Lampson Stadium in its season opener in the Northwest Junior College Football League.
The Sacramento native finished 13-for-23 passing for 156 yards. He also ran for 54 yards on six carries.
Tyrell McGee led the receivers with three catches for 91 yards and a TD. Dale Entel caught Bryant's other scoring toss, while Bobby Adams had a 60-yard scoring hook-up with backup QB Heath Lawrence.
Defensively, free safety Brandon Larson led the Gladiators with nine tackles, while TJ Fields and Angel Garcia had eight apiece. Anthony Mendez had a sack and a forced fumble, while Danny Engel, Devin Homer and Ethan Morgan also got to Tacoma's QB. Entel and Fields each had a pick.
CBJC is on the road this week, heading to Bremerton to take on the Kitsap Peninsula Warhawks at 2 p.m. Saturday.
