PALO ALTO, Calif. -- Lisa Bratton of the Tri-City Channel Cats qualified for the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials in the women's 200-meter backstroke Tuesday during the U.S. Junior National Championships in Palo Alto, Calif.
Bratton, entering her sophomore year at Delta High School in Richland, was ninth in the preliminaries at Stanford University with a personal-best time of 2 minutes, 16.81 seconds. She went on to finish 10th in the "A" final in 2:17.93. Both times were Olympic qualifying times.
After the prelims of the 400 individual medley, Bratton was in 36th place with another personal-best time of 4:58.83. The top 30 advanced to the "A," "B" and "C" finals.
Bratton will swim in the 100 back Thursday and the 200 IM on Friday.
The 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials will be held June 25-July 2 in Omaha, Neb.
