MIDLAND, Texas -- Madison Martinez had two RBIs and Emily Benson struck out seven and scattered five hits over the distance but it wasn't enough as the Washington Angels 96 fell 3-2 to Cincy Doom 96 in a loser-out contest at the Freddie Ezell Complex in Midland, Texas, in a U-14 national softball tournament.
The team from Lebanon, Ohio, took the lead in the top of the fourth on an error.
The Angels won their first two games at the tournament -- 7-3 over Texas Panthers and 7-0 over St. Louis Fusion -- but a 5-0 loss to Oklahoma Force 96 sent the team into the consolation bracket, where it survived the remainder of Thursday thanks to a 6-5 besting of Texas Chaos 96.
