PASCO -- The Tri-City Channel Cats' Luke Jackson placed third in the Boys 13-14 division 100 backstroke with a Western Zone qualifying time of one minute, 7.19 seconds Saturday in the second day of the Inland Empire Long Course Championships at Memorial Pool in Pasco.
Jackson also qualified for the zones on Friday in the 200 butterfly (third, 2:24.76), as did Alyssa Musick in the Girls 13-14 division 200-meter butterfly (first, 2:34.82) and Mackenzie Hale in the Girls 9-12 division 400 freestyle (4:56.28).
And Channel Cats coach Todd Stafek said that, overall, his team is doing quite well.
"We have a fairly sizable lead going into the last day of the meet," said Stafek, noting that the Channel Cats lead the 15-team event with 2,500 points.

The Spokane Waves Aquatic Team is at second place as of Saturday with 1,500 points.
