KENNEWICK -- The Kennewick Babe Ruth All-Stars will play host to eight teams in the Pacific Northwest Babe Ruth 13s Regional Tournament starting Monday at Roy Johnson Field.
"All those boys are really good," Kennewick Babe Ruth president Eric Duncan said of the host team's lineup.
"I'm very proud of all those boys. They've overcome quite a bit."
And while the tournament will obviously have the all-stars of the All-Stars, Duncan said scouting future baseball prospects at the tournament this week would be a formidable task.
"I hate singling out one kid over them all. There's a couple that are unique in their skills."
Participating squads are Hazel Dell and Seattle Bombers, respectively the Southern and Northern state champions; Southern Washington runner-up Centralia; Idaho state champions Meridian; Wyoming state champs Rock Springs; Southern and Northern Oregon state champs Willamette Valley (Eugene) and Bend, respectively; and the Alberta and Glacier league championship teams from Calgary, Alberta and Whitefish, Montana.
First game Monday is the 10 a.m. matchup between Meridian and Willamette Valley.
