* 1972 -- Undefeated Rhode's Runners capitalized on 10 Vacuum City errors to win the championship game of the Women's Fast-Pitch Softball Tournament. The Runners were paced by pitcher Julie Moore, who stopped VC on four hits. Teammate Judy Moore was 2-for-4 in the game.
* 1967 -- Bill Sterett topped the day with 110.024 mph in his Hemi-powered Chrysler Crew during afternoon unlimited hydroplane speed trials on the Columbia River.
