PERUGIA, Italy -- Juan Jose Haedo has won the third stage of the Tirreno-Adriatico, while American Tyler Farrar retained the overall lead.
The Argentine finished ahead of Farrar, a Wenatchee native, and Daniel Oss of Italy in a group finish Friday at the end of the 117-mile leg from Terranuova Bracciolini to Perugia, Italy.
Haedo is second overall, five seconds behind Farrar, who hails from Wenatchee.
Haedo's Saxo Bank-SunGard team led the peleton into the final mile before Thor Hushovd of Garmin-Cervelo mistimed his break.
Never miss a local story.
Farrar, Hushovd's teammate, faded in the final 100 yards and Haedo sprinted past for the win.
