PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Pirates placed catcher Ryan Doumit on the 15-day disabled list with a concussion and recalled Jason Jaramillo from Triple-A Indianapolis on Thursday.
Doumit, the Moses Lake native who is tied for second on the team in home runs with eight and RBIs with 32, left Wednesday night's game against the Milwaukee Brewers in the fourth inning because he felt lightheaded and nauseous.
Doumit did not play Tuesday after taking a foul tip off his mask during a game Monday.
BaseballHQ.com reported, "In three of his last five seasons he has suffered a concussion, and this history is a bit worrying both for his long-term health as well as for his usefulness as a catcher."
Jaramillo was optioned to Indianapolis at the All-Star break.
