A Kennewick barber who received national attention while cutting Seahawks players’ hair during the team’s run to the Super Bowl is planning to bring some 12th Man pride to the Tri-Cities.
Mark Baysinger, owner of On The Mark barbershop off West Clearwater Avenue, will throw a party featuring safety Earl Thomas to celebrate the Super Bowl win.
The party is scheduled for 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. Saturday at the Three Rivers Convention Center in Kennewick,Baysinger said. It will feature eight different bars, a DJ and projection screens with Seahawk highlights. Jerseys will be raffled off to support a charity.
The party will focus on the Seahawks season from 9-11 p.m., with merchandise giveaways and some interaction with the fans. After 11, Baysinger hopes the convention center will turn into a nightclub. Tickets are $35 and attire is dress to impress.
“There is going to be all different demographics in there,” Baysinger said. “It’s going to be first-class.”
A meet-and-greet with Thomas is also planned earlier in the day from 5-7:30 p.m. at the HAPO business complex on West Clearwater. There will be 150 adult tickets available at $40 and 150 tickets for children at $25.
Those who also buy a ticket to the party get priority to meet Thomas and take a picture with him. No autographs are allowed.
Baysinger’s close relationship with Thomas was featured in a Herald article in the week leading up to the Super Bowl. He is Thomas’ personal barber and routinely travels to Seattle to cut his hair, he said. His clients also include other Seahawks players, including Super Bowl MVP Malcolm Smith, Phil Bates, Derrick Coleman and Bobby Wagner.
“We just want to give back to Eastern Washington, which never gets a party,” Baysinger said. “I really believe the 12th Man will come out strong. To bring Earl out here for me is a dream come true. I’m proud to bring him back home because I believe the fans will show out and show love.”
