The Tri-City Dust Devils had plenty of pitching but not enough hitting in Saturday’s night’s 1-0 loss to the host Spokane Indians in Northwest League baseball.
Helmis Rodriguez threw six sharp innings for Tri-City, giving up just six hits and one run. But that didn’t stop his record from falling to 3-7 despite a marvelous 2.16 ERA.
The Indians stuck the game’s only run on the board in Rodriguez’s final inning, with Jose Trevino doubling to lead off the frame and coming around on a two-out single.
The loss assures the Dust Devils (11-12) will fall into a first-place tie with either Everett or Vancouver — who were playing each other late Saturday — in the NWL North second-half standings.
