The Tri-City Dust Devils broke out of their offensive doldrums in a big way Friday night, erupting for nine runs in the third inning and going on to a 14-7 win over the host Eugene Emeralds in a Northwest League baseball game.
After having a blanket throw on the offense the previous two nights, the Dust Devils worked out their frustrations in the third inning, stringing together single after single and mixing in a few stolen bases. The pressure forced the Ems into a couple of miscues that only added to the fire.
Marcos Derkes scored a pair of runs in the inning, and Sam Bumpers had a two-run single. Josh Fuentes finished the game with three RBIs.
The big inning helped the Dust Devils coming back from a three-run hole after the first inning.
