Helmis Rodriguez had another solid start, but a slew of Eugene pitchers kept Tri-City’s hitters off the bases as the Emeralds handed the Dust Devils a 2-0 setback Thursday.
Rodriguez, who was tabbed to play in the Northwest League All-Star Game, went seven innings and allowed just six hits and one walk while striking out three. One of his two runs was unearned.
But four Eugene pitchers, none throwing more than three innings, limited Tri-City to just three hits.
The two teams are back in action at 7:05 p.m. today.
Never miss a local story.
Earlier in the day, Rodriguez and three of his Tri-City teammates were named to the North Division squad for the NWL All-Star Game: pitcher Scott Firth, infielder Cesar Galvez and outfielder Marcos Derkes.
The game will be played Aug. 5 at Eugene’s PK Park.
