Wilfredo Rodriguez went 3-for-4 and scored a pair of runs, and Konner Wade and three relievers combined on a six-hitter as the Tri-City Dust Devils beat Spokane 7-2 at Avista Stadium on Thursday and pulled within a game of the Indians for second place in the Northwest League North Division.
With eight games left in the season, the Dust Devils (12-16) are in prime position to finish first (two games out) or in second behind first-half winner Everett and grab the North’s second playoff spot.
Tri-City took the lead for good in the top of the fourth on an RBI single by Julian Yan and a sacrifice fly from Patrick Valaika.
Yan drove in a pair of runs for the Dust Devils. Wade (2-7) went five innings and gave up just one earned run. Shawn Stuart, Anthony Bryant and Jerad McCrummen combined for four innings of scoreless relief.
