Matt Argyropoulos scored on Charlie Blackmon’s line drive to left field in the top of the 12th inning as the Tri-City Dust Devils edged the Yakima Bears 4-3 in the second of a three-game Northewst League baseball series being played at Yakima County Stadium.
And although a nailbiter, Dust Devils signaled their eventual victory early in the game.
Tri-City’s Miguel De Leon scored on Yakima short stop Kevin Medrano’s fielding error and Patrick Hutcheson and Anthony Aguilera scored on Zach Osborne’s line drive to center fielder Michael Lang to put the Dust Devils up 3-0 in the top of the second.
But the Bears put up 2 runs in the fourth: Josh Parr scored on a Jacob House double and Joseph Loftus followed in the next play, reaching home as Jimmy Comerota grounded out.
Never miss a local story.
Yakima then tied the game in the fifth: Lang scored on Parr’s single to center fielder Blackmon.
Brook Hart pitched one inning of relief and earned the win with a two-hit performance in the 11th and William Rankin got credit for the save, holding off the Bears’ bats with a one-hitter in the 12th.
