EUGENE, Ore. -- There's just no stopping Christian Bergman lately.
The Tri-City Dust Devils starting pitcher extended his scoreless innings streak to 23 1/3, allowing just four hits in seven shutout innings in a 2-0 road win over the Eugene Emeralds.
Bergman (5-3) escaped trouble in the fourth, when Justin Miller led off with a single and advanced to second on an error by Tim Smalling. Bergman then retired the side in order to end the inning. Rafael Suarez relieved Bergman, pitching two scoreless innings for his fourth save.
Tri-City got both runs in the fifth inning when Matt Argyropoulos grounded into a force play at second base, scoring Leonardo Reyes. Ryan Casteel scored when shortstop Jace Peterson threw wide of first base trying for the double play.
Never miss a local story.
The Dust Devils (6-2) maintain a two-game lead over Boise (4-4) in the Northwest League East Division.
