SPOKANE -- Christian Bergman was dominant Saturday, throwing seven shut out innings to lead the Tri-City Dust Devils to a 3-1 victory against the Spokane Indians.
The win moves the Dust Devils back into first place alone in the Northwest League's East Division -- one game ahead of the Indians.
Bergman (3-3) scattered four hits, while walking one and striking out six to lower his ERA to 3.66 on the season.
Nelson Gonzalez worked two innings -- allowing an unearned run -- for his first save of the year.
Never miss a local story.
The Dust Devils got on the board in the third, as Brian Humphries was hit by a pitch, stole second, stole third and scored on a wild pitch. Later in the inning, Tyler Massey hit a RBI double to right, scoring Timothy Smalling for a 2-0 lead.
Tri-City scored its final run in the seventh on an RBI double by Taylor Featherston, scoring Jayson Langfels.
The Dust Devils got a break to end the game, as Spokane's Guillermo Pimentel ran into an out on the basepaths to end it.
Drew Robinson singled to center with two outs, scoring Brett Nicholas. Pimentel was then thrown out at third on a rare 8-5-6-3 putout, for those scoring at home.
Tri-City plays at Yakima at 7:05 p.m. today.
