Late surge pushes Hops to victory

The Tri-City Dust Devils held a 2-0 lead over the visiting Hillsboro Hops heading into the sixth Saturday night at Gesa Stadium, but a leadoff double by Chad Oberacker sparked a Hillsboro comeback as the Hops pulled off a 6-2 win. Joey Lucchesi was impressive in his fourth pro start, allowing just two base runners in his three inning stint. The Spokane Indians were victorious on Saturday, and pulled even with the Dust Devils atop the Northwest League North

NWL: Dust Devils shutout Hops, reclaim division lead

The Tri-Cty Dust Devils didn’t get many chances against the Hillsboro Hops Friday, July 22, at Gesa Stadium against the Hillsboro Hops, but Kyle Overstreet and Taylor Kohlwey took advantage of their opportunities to drive in the game’s only runs and pace the Dust Devils to a 2-0 victory. Overstreet called an eight-hit shutout behind the plate with highly-touted prospect Eric Lauer making his Dust Devils debut on the mound and Jordan Guerrero pitching five innings of relief behind him. The Everett AquaSox, Spokane Indians and Vancouver Canadians all lost on Friday, which allowed the Dust Devils to reclaim the Northwest League North division lead.

Baker still earning everything as a Dust Devil

Former University of Washington Husky and current Tri-City Dust Devil Chris Baker battled to get on the field in high school and college, and eventually emerged as a legitimate professional prospect, getting picked in the 17th round by the San Diego Padres in the 2016 MLB Draft. Now as a Dust Devil, Baker is still putting in the extra hours it takes to succeed on the diamond.

NWL: Late breakthrough gives Hops series-opening win

The Tri-City Dust Devils rushed out to an early lead on Thursday at Gesa Stadium, but new relief pitchers Nathan Foriest, Nick Monroe and Adrian De Horta couldn’t hold down the Hillsboro Hops en route to a 9-8 Hops victory. With the loss, the Dust Devils fell back into a tie for first place with the Spokane Indians, who beat the Boise Hawks, and sit a game ahead of the Everett AquaSox and Vancouver Canadians with four games left in the Northwest League’s first half of the season.

NWL: Dust Devils lead tight division race

With only five games to play in the first half of the season and an early playoff berth up for grabs, the Tri-City Dust Devils hold a one-game advantage over the Everett AquaSox, Vancouver Canadians and Spokane Indians in the Northwest League North. The Dust Devils will close out the first-half of the season with a five-game home series against the defending-champion Hillsboro Hops, which began Thursday. Seattle Mariners first-round draft pick Kyle Lewis sustained a season-ending knee injury in the AquaSox game against the Dust Devils on Tuesday.
