The Eastern Washington Elite Dance senior teams made quite an impact April 25-28 at the World Championships in Orlando, Fla. -- both on the floor and behind the scenes.
On the floor, the Elite hiphop crew earned first place out of a field of 33 with their Respect routine, a mix of hardedged hiphop and the Aretha Franklin classic.
"It sets us apart from the other teams," Elite instructor Teri Rowe said. "Our routines are harder, but more interesting for the judges."
Meanwhile, the jazz team earned fourth place out of a field of 14 teams with the emotional choreography of Rock Your Soul, based on the hit song by Italian artist Elisa.
Returning Elite seniors are Richland High School's Cara Scovazzo and Carsen Rowe; Hanford's Jessica Garcia and Haylee Tayamen; Alicia Prue of Kennewick, Jenni Bolton of Kamiakin and Chelsea Donahue of Southridge.
