By the Herald staff

HERMISTON -- Mid-Columbia auto racing fans can get in one last race to watch this year when the Northwest Sprint Car Invitational will be held today at Columbia Motor Speedway in Hermiston.

Qualifying starts at 1 p.m., while the 50-lap race begins at 2 p.m.

The event will pit drivers of the Inland Northwest Sprint Car Association (INSCA), the Washington Econo Sprint Car Organization (WESCO), the ERP Winged Sprint Cars and the WILROC series of Canada against each other.

The winner receives a $1,200 check and regional bragging rights heading in to the long winter.

Of the 25 drivers preregistered, area drivers include Justin Mack from the Tri-Cities, and Othello's Mike Fought and Donnie Kudrna.
