WEST WENDOVER, Nev. -- West Richland's Paul Dorsh qualified for the 130 MPH Club at the Bonneville Salt Flats on Friday with two runs of 135 and 136 mph.
Dorsh drove the Columbia Bluebird, a modified 1998 Firebird.
This is Dorsh's first of several steps towards the D Production world speed record.
Dorsh and his father-in-law, Dr. Walter L. Tamosaitis, are building the car to go after a world land-speed record.
The next step is the 150 MPH Club and then the run at the world record.
As the car sits, it shows the capability to go over 160 mph, said Tamosaitis.
