While Othello's team victory at its own Leonard Schutte Invite is nothing new, the results for the 195-pound title certainly piqued some interest.
Southridge's Kevin Del-Angel topped defending state champion Sisto Santana Pina of Kamiakin 11-9, jumping out to a 10-0 lead and then holding on through a furious third period.
"Twice he was really close to ending the match," Southridge coach John Hogg said of Del-Angel, who reached the state semifinals and placed sixth in the same 170-pound bracket that Pina won last year in Tacoma. "It got to a pretty good brawl. It was a good match, and he stayed up top. Those were two first-class kids going at it."
Del-Angel, whose first two matches lasted a total of 35 seconds, was named the tournament's outstanding wrestler.
Southridge finished third in the team race, with Bryce Overholt taking second at 182.
Kamiakin finished seventh, led by sophomore Colton Deleon taking first at 170. Deleon topped West Valley's Mark Bradley 7-4 in the final. The Braves also got a runner-up finish from Junior Pina at 138.
Othello, which finished 33 1/2 points ahead of Stanwood, got titles from Isaiah Barrera (106), Lucas Garza (132), Eric Garza (160) and Bubba Ruiz (285). Also, Alec Espinoza of Othello's Dawg Squad, won the title at 126.
Chiawana's Eli Sikes was a runner-up at 106 as the Riverhawks brough a mostly JV squad.

Hermiston at Walsh Ironman: Tyler Berger's hopes of repeating his undefeated state championship season of last year ended Saturday, but not without a fight and most definitely for a worthy cause.
The junior two-time Oregon champ finished third at one of the toughest high school tournaments in the nation, going 7-1 at 138 pounds in the Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, event.
Berger lost his third-round match to Ryan Skonieczny of Columbus, Ohio, 4-3 in the first tiebreaker. He then won six straight matches, including a pair of pins and three one-point decisions. His final two wins came against wrestlers who had beaten Skonieczny, who finished eighth.
Senior Abraham Rodriguez placed eighth for Hermiston at 160 despite being a medical forfeit in his final two matches.
Freshman Sammy Shields-Colbray didn't miss but still had a strong run at 182, winning four matches and finishing just short of the placing rounds.
Wyatt Scribner (120), Isaac Aguilar (126) and Beau Gleed (132) each won a match at their weights.
Inland Empire Classic: Kennewick's Robby Calvert capped a strong tournament with a 35-second pin to take third place at 285 in the prestigious Spokane tournament.
Calvert, who had a 57-second pin in the quarterfinals, bounced back from being pinned in the semifinals with an injury-default win and the quick pin to post the area's top finish.
Lions teammate Michael Hosfield placed fourth at 126, losing 12-6 in his placing match.
Richland netted four placers, including fourths from Noah Workman at 132 and Cameron Simpson at 170. Workman lost his opening match, then won four straight, inlcuding an impressive 10-2 major decision over Mead's Camron Hunt. Likewise, Simpson had to win three in a row after falling in the second round.
Mitch Bieber finished fifth for the Bombers at 120, and Cody O'Toole sixth at 195.
University won the team title ahead of Post Falls, Idaho. Richland finshed 10th and Kennewick 13th.
