The Warden volleyball team picked up a key SCAC East road victory Tuesday, knocking off River View 25-15, 25-12, 19-25, 25-15 in Finley.
The win keeps the Cougars (4-4 league) in fourth place in the league. The top four teams advance to the District 5 tournament.
“It was a good team win,” Warden coach Dennis Treat said. “Everybody had some good contributions. That was a big win for us.”
Salena Landeros was 22-of-23 serving with six aces and Andrea Contreras was 16-of-17 serving with five aces.

“Both of them played middle for us and they both played their best match of the season,” Treat said.

Southridge 3, Richland 0: Jordan Mix and Kimberly Brinkworth each had 15 kills in leading Southridge to an Mid-Columbia Conference road win over Richland.
“I think Jordan stepped up on the outside hitting, she is hitting .467, which is high for her,” Suns coach John Lengphounpraseut said. “She only had one hitting error. Part of that credit goes to Kylie (Fraga), she put on a (setting) clinic tonight.”
The Suns, who got 36 assists from Fraga, improved to 11-0 in MCC play and 20-1 overall.
“This is a determined group of girls,” Lengphounpraseut said.
Hailey Turner had 11 kills, seven digs and a block in the loss for the Bombers.

Chiawana 3, Walla Walla 1: Maddison Heine had eight kills and four blocks to lead the visiting Riverhawks to a Mid-Columbia Conference victory.
“We’re heading toward postseason and we want to be moving toward peaking and right now we are just scuffling along it seems like,” Chiawana coach Jim Steach said. “I hope we can pick things up because we have some tough stuff coming up.”
The Riverhawks have clinched the Class 4A No. 1 seed out of the MCC, meaning they will host the district tournament in two weeks.
