The Kamiakin Braves earned their second consecutive Mid-Columbia Conference championship in girls soccer Tuesday, topping the Hanford Falcons in a tightly contested MCC match at Lampson Stadium to finish 13-1 in conference play.
Rachel Ensign, a Kamiakin defender, launched a free kick into Hanford’s 18-yard box, where forward Ellie Heiden controlled it, turned and beat Falcons goalkeeper Emily Busselman to the upper right corner in the 44th minute.
Hanford nearly tied the match late in the second half, but Kamiakin goalie Erin Leseberg came off her line to disrupt the oncoming forward, whose shot deflected off the crossbar.

“I think (Hanford) is a formidable opponent. We were fortunate to get the title for ourselves,” Kamiakin coach Chris Erikson said.
The Braves outshot the Falcons 15-2.

Pasco 1, Walla Walla 0 (OT): The Bulldogs battled through 80 frustrating minutes, outshooting the Blue Devils 20-1 in the Class 4A district playoffs at Edgar Brown Stadium before Josie Derrick knocked in a loose ball in front of Walla Walla’s net in overtime.
“It’s better to be lucky than good,” Pasco coach Justin Carey said. “We spent a lot of time in the attacking third, but we did keep our heads tonight.”
The Bulldogs (7-10) will travel to Richland (8-7) for the second round of districts at 5 p.m. Thursday at Bomber Field.
Jesse Lobos, Pasco’s third-string goalkeeper, made one save for her first career shutout. Lobos was forced into action after injuries to the first- and second-string keepers.
“She was nice and bored, which is good,” Carey said. “This has been a good learning experience for her.”
Starting goalkeeper Carrie Nolan is expected to return for Thursday’s game.

Southridge 12, Kennewick 0: Mercedes Haberling had three goals and three assists as the Suns wrapped up the regular season with a big victory.
Southridge will host the Greater Spokane League’s No. 2 seed in an elimination game Tuesday at a time to be determined. Kennewick will face Sunnyside on Saturday, with the winner playing at the GSL’s No. 1 seed on Tuesday.
