Gerard Lomas finally gave the Richland boys socccer team the quick start it was looking for, scoring in the first minute against visiting Eisenhower in a 2-0 CBBN 4A win at Bomber Field.
"It's been a seasonlong thing -- we get good chances right in the first minute and we don't convert," said Richland coach Octavio Dovalle. "This time we did, and we were able to manage the game better."
Lomas' score came off a feed from Austin Herrick, and he returned the favor late in the game to set up Ali Kamara's goal.

Chiawana 7, Walla Walla 0: Rene Solorio scored two of Chiawana's first three goals in a CBBN 4A shutout of visiting Walla Walla, a much-needed win for the Riverhawks.
"We had some soul searching to do for the last month. We haven't played well," Chiawana coach Rich Zoller said. "Today we just played like a team. We moved the ball quickly, we were unselfish and communicated really well."
The Riverhawks' usual starting goalkeeper, Javy Peralta, moved out to midfield and had a calming influence while sophomore Fernando Gutierrez got the start in goal, making two saves for the shutout.

Kennewick 1, Hanford 0: Kennewick's David Covarrubias scored in the 30th minute on a Marcos Borja assist and the Lions outshot their visitors 24-0 on the day in a CBBN 3A win against Hanford.
"Credit to them for making it real difficult for us," Kennewick coach Brian Gochoel said of Hanford's success in keeping it a low-scoring game.
Jacob Thiel had nine saves for Hanford, and Falcons coach Scott Ritts was impressed with the way both teams played.
"It was a well-organized, good game for both sides," Ritts said.

Sunnyside 3, Eastmont 2: Armando Armenta scored on a penalty kick midway through the second half, and the host Grizzlies bounced back after allowing a pair of goals late in the first half to hand the Wildcats their first CBBN 3A loss.
Armenta's PK was set up when Javier Contreras was on a breakaway and was taken down by the goalie coming out of the net.
The win helped Sunnyside remain a game back of Pasco for third place and well ahead of the rest of the field.

Southridge (3-6) leap-frogged the Rams (2-6) into sixth place, the final berth into the postseason -- though there are still five games left in league.
