Notes: Shadle is making its first state playoff appearance since 1999, when it lost to Richland in the quarterfinals as the Bombers were marching to the state title. .... The Highlanders had three of the top four receivers in the Greater Spokane League rankings and five of seven. All five of those receivers have more catches than Kamiakin’s No. 1 receiver. ... Shadle has been tough against the run, finishing the GSL season giving up just over 1,000 yards rushing. However, most of its opponents have been chasing the score. ... Ramizov is coming off a 197-yard performances in the first round, though at least as impressive were his 3 1/2 sacks on defense. ... Rypien set a state 11-man record when he threw for 613 yards against Mt. Spokane in the regular season.

Chiawana rushed for more than 500 yards total, while holding Wenatchee star Brandt-Sims to just 35 yards on the ground. ... This time around, the Riverhawks will be without running back Austin Urlacher, who broke his leg in the crossover victory against Gonzaga Prep. ... Chiawana coach Steve Graff is trying to become the first coach in 10 years to take two Class 4A schools to the semifinals. ... The Riverhawks will have to remain disciplined and not be overconfident after the early season throttling. ... The game features plenty of star power, as Brandt-Sims has a full-ride to Stanford, while Singleton and Alex Weber are being recruited by plenty of D-I schools throughout the country.
Prediction: Chiawana 35, Wenatchee 13

Notes: Schutt was named the WIAA player of the week Friday for his solid performance in the road win over a stout Sedro-Woolley team. ... Today’s game will be a contrast in styles. The Mustangs’ high-octane offense will go up against a clock-chewing, power running team. ... Mark Morris was losing at halftime in both its crossover and first round games, but obviously rallied to win both. ... Prosser, meanwhile, has been on a roll of late, and picked up a big win last week over a Sedro-Woolley team which beat Ferndale earlier this season. ... The Mustangs were supposed to have a down year and did finish third in the CWAC, but they are in the quarterfinals yet again and a second consecutive trip to the semifinals is in their grasp.
