Devven Ramos scored on a 7-yard run with 22 seconds left to help the Kennewick Lions leap over the Sunnyside Grizzlies 18-13 on the road.
Sunnyside had scored on a 20-yard pass from Eddie Gonzalez to Joseph Contreras to go up 13-12, missing the two-point attempt with three minutes remaining, before the Lions marched down the field for the game winner.
“I was real proud,” Sunnyside coach Mark Marro said. “We had our starting quarterback out, and the backup quarterback (Gonzalez) did a great job for us. He threw for 75 yards, and we were able to put some strong defense together.
“We were missing three starters and two of them two-way starters. I was happy with how we played, obviously not happy with the outcome, but I was still happy.”
