Kamiakin High School students provided a rousing sendoff Thursday morning as the football team departed for Tacoma to square off against O'Dea High School for the 3A state title. The game is at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the Tacoma Dome.

Kennewick High Athletic Director Ronny Coleman talks about the golden NFL football the school received in honor of Ray Mansfield, a Kennewick grad who was a two-time Super Bowl champion. The NFL sent 3,000 footballs to schools where a player or coach participated in a Super Bowl in honor of the 50th Super Bowl.
The top-ranked Patriots, led by all-state QB John Lesser, will travel to face Sunnyside Christian at 7 p.m. Thursday. Lesser is within range of career 8-man records for rushing yards, touchdowns and points scored.
