Chiawana junior Roman Ruiz won three events (110 high hurdles, 300 low hurdles, high jump), but it was the Richland Bombers who came away with the big day Thursday, going 2-0 in a dual meet at Chiawana High School in Pasco.
Bombers sophomore Benjamin Stanfield (52.68) pulled out a tight win over teammate Elias Romero in the 400 meters, winning by just 7 hundredths of a second.
The Kamiakin girls asserted their strength, winning 15 of the 17 events, including eight individual winners. Miranda Shulman picked up wins in the 200 and 400, Lindsey Schauble took the 100 hurdles and long jump, Tabitha Wellsandt won the shot put and discus, and Andrea Stapleton took home the high jump and triple jump titles.
