The weather on the west side of the state has been beautiful the past few days.
That may not be the case today, when a band of rain is expected to hit the coast. If so, it’s going to make things interesting as the state high school golf championships get under way at various sites.
The Mid-Columbia has a number of competitors in the 10 tournaments.
Here is a quick look at each tournament, which runs today and Wednesday:
4A boys state tournament
Richland has a strong 1-2-3 punch in Hunter Thompson, Jeffrey Marcum and Drew McCullough. Marcum placed third at last year’s 4A tournament at Hangman Valley in Spokane.

Now both seniors, Kain-Godoy ran away with the Mid-Columbia Conference 3A district medalist honors last week, while Aiello struggled to an opening-round score of 89 at Horn Rapids befoire bouncing back at Canyon Lakes to qualify for state.
Don’t expect Aiello to struggle again.
