The Richland boys captured the 4A regional title Saturday as Travis Zuroske and Zach Fisher picked up the doubles title and sophomore Trent Prussing finished second in singles.
All three will play in the 4A state tournament Friday and Saturday at Richland and Hanford high schools.
Zuroske, a senior, and Fisher, a junior, lost their first set 4-6 to Lewis & Clark’s Luke Brittan and Jordan Strandness, but rallied to win the next two sets 6-3, 6-3.
Prussing lost his first match to Alex Marcinkowski of Gonzaga Prep 6-1, 6-0, but earned the second seed with a 6-1, 7-5 win over Tyler Wilson of Lewis & Clark.

In the girls 4A tournament, the Mead girls won the team title, qualifying two singles players and one doubles team to state.
Walla Walla’s Allison Mehn and Rachel Schueller, who lost their first match to Mead’s Dana Norris and Heather Birge 6-0, 6-2, rebounded for a 6-1, 6-3 win over Richland’s Hailey Thompson and Madeline Quick to earn the second seed to state.
“Rachel and Allison struggled for the first time all season in the first match against Mead,” Wa-Hi coach Keven Peck said. “Sometimes that happens. There is a lot more pressure in the postseason and I think it impacted their play. However, I was really proud of the way they responded in the second match against Richland. As they always do, they regrouped and found a way to win.”
In singles, district champion Danielle Thongdy of Walla Walla lost both matches, missing out on a trip to state.
“Danielle had a rough two matches,” Peck said. “She ran up against two tough Mead players and wasn’t able to advance to the state tournament.”
Hanford’s Sierra Troxel won her third consecutive regional title, beating Mercedee Smith of University 6-0, 6-1.
Troxel, who was third at state last year, will try and improve on that finish at the 3A tournament Friday and Saturday at Tri-City Court Club, which will host the singles matches.
The state boys and girls doubles matches will be played at Kamiakin High School and will feature two girls teams from Southridge, which won the regional title Saturday at Kennewick High.
Kennewick’s Stephanie Buckingham picked up the second seed, beating Laurent Stubbers of University 6-0, 6-0 and Smith 6-2, 6-0.
On the day, the Spokane players won just three games off Troxel and Buckingham.
In doubles, the Southridge duo of Sarah Morgan and Sofia Morrison won 6-0, 6-0 over Nesha Howard and Madeline Ritter of Shadle Park, and will be joined at state by teammates Bailee Sanderson and Shyler, who won both of their matches, including a 6-3, 6-1 win over Howard and Ritter in second-place match.
“It was absolutely a great day for our team,” Southridge coach Chuck Hamaker-Teals said. “And a great story for Bailee and Shyler, who were third going into to districts and winning a state berth.”
The 3A boys, which get three singles players and three doubles teams to state, saw Kennewick take the No. 1 and No. 3 seeds in singles and Hanford, which won the regional title, finish 1-2 in doubles.
Kennewick’s Chad McKenzie won the singles title, beating teammate Jared Bolt 6-1, 6-1 in the semis, and Austin Carlen of Mount Spokane 6-0, 6-0 in the finals.Bolt came back to earn the third seed, beating Southridge’s Ethan Ling 6-3, 6-0.
