While the Mid-Columbia Conference 3A softball teams don’t get into full swing in the postseason until next week, the Class 4A schools will wrap up districts today and get ready for regionals.
Chiawana, which won an elimination game with Pasco 12-2 on Thursday, faces another do-or-die contest at 11 a.m. today at Walla Walla against the host Blue Devils. The winner plays MCC champ Richland at 1 p.m. for the district title and seeding into regionals next Saturday at Richland.
Today’s champion has an inside track on earning one of the region’s two berths to state, needing only to win one of two games next Saturday (against the Greater Spokane League No. 1 Central Valley or the winner of the 2-vs-2 matchup).
Class 3A District 5/8: Sunnyside travels to Kennewick for a Monday qualifier before the top four MCC teams play their GSL counterparts Tuesday, No. 4 at No. 1, No. 3 at No. 2.

Following Tuesday’s elimination games, the field will be reseeded and head to Columbia Playfields in Richland the following Saturday.
Class 2A CWAC: Othello (17-3) heads into the postseason as a third seed and faces an elimination game Tuesday against visiting Ephrata (9-11) at 4 p.m. A win sends the Huskies to Thursday’s semifinals at Carlon Park in Selah against the host Vikings (18-2), while league champ Ellensburg (19-1) will play either West Valley (12-8) or East Valley (12-8).
Class 2B District 9: Waitsburg-Prescott defeated DeSales 3-2 to win the district title, while Dayton beat Asotin 6-5 to capture the No. 3 seed to next weekend’s District 7/9 Tournament in Spokane.
Six of the eight teams from that tournament will earn state berths.
