Here's a look at the 16 men's basketball teams set to begin play in the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges at the Toyota Center on Saturday:
Centralia vs. Whatcom, 8 a.m.
Centralia is West No. 3 seed (18-9). Soph G Van Lockett (Louisiana) is a first-team West all-star, averaging 17.7 points. He’s third in steals with 79, and ranks ninth in assists at 4.63 a game. Soph F Mozeek Waggener (Texas) grabs 9.0 rebounds. Whatcom is the North No. 2 seed (18-8). Frosh G Kyle Impero (Nooksack Valley) and soph PF Zach Stalin (Mt. Baker) are two first-team North all-stars. Impero, also the North freshman of the year, averages 20.8 points. Stalin grabs 9.88 rebounds. Whatcom Mid-Columbia connection: Soph G Daniel Nielsen (Grandview).
Big Bend vs. Lane, 10 a.m.

Big Bend is the East No. 1 seed (24-4) and No. 2 in RPI Index. Head coach Mark Poth has another loaded team. Squad is led by East MVP and top freshman Brendan Westendorf (Kentridge), who ranks fourth in NWAACC scoring at 21.3 points. He’s also third in assists at 6.0 a game, and seventh in assists at 62. Frosh G Kevin Walker (Rexburg, Idaho) ranks fourth in steals at 78. Big Bend Mid-Columbia connection: Frosh F Bryce Perez (Moses Lake). Lane is South No. 4 seed (21-8). Standout is soph G Tyler Coleman (Marist, Eugene), who was first-team South all-star and region’s defensive player of the year. Coleman averages 17.1 points and ranks second in steals in the entire NWAACC with 82.
Peninsula vs. Tacoma, noon
Peninsula is the North No. 3 seed (17-10) and No. 3 in RPI Index. Top player is soph G-F Djuan Smith (Arkansas), a second-team all-star and all-defensive North star. Frosh G TreShawn King-Dunbar (Bartlett-Anchorage) dishes out 4.8 assists. Peninsula Mid-Columbia connection: Frosh G-F Domach Domach (Kennewick). Tacoma is West No. 2 seed (19-8). Coach Carl Howell’s team returns as defending champion. Titans’ top player is soph F Julian Vaughn (Curtis), a first-team West all-star and the region’s defensive player of the year.
Chemeketa vs. Walla Walla, 2 p.m.
Chemeketa is the South’s top seed at 17-8. Soph F Trevor Phillips (Hermiston) is South Region MVP, averaging 16.9 points. Soph G Gavin Kauffman (Sweet Home, Ore.) is also a South first-team all-star. David Abderhalden is South coach of the year. Walla Walla is East No. 4 seed at 13-13. Warriors are led by the 1-2 punch of frosh G Case Rada (Kamiakin) and soph G Dylan Radliff (Richland). Both are first-team East Region all-stars. Rada leads the entire NWAACC in scoring at 24.4 points, with a season-high of 41 in one game. Radliff ranks seventh in assists at 4.8.
Clackamas vs. Yakima Valley, 4 p.m.
Clackamas is South No. 3 seed (16-12). Cougars’ top player is soph G Brock Lutes (Newberg, Ore.), a first-team South selection. Yakima Valley is the East No. 2 seed (20-8). Soph F Tomas Ogbaslassie (Chief Sealth) is the East defensive player of the year. He had 53 steals this season.
Edmonds vs. Lower Columbia, 6 p.m.
Edmonds is the top seed out of the North (23-3). Tritons come into tournament as top team in RPI Index. North coach of the year Kyle Gray boasts the division’s MVP, soph SF Shaquielle McKissic (Kentridge). He’s the NWAACC’s No. 2 scorer at 23.0 points, he ranks third in rebounds at 9.9, and is fifth in steals at 75. Soph PG Ricardo Maxwell is a first-team North all-star, and he averages 20.6 points. He’s fifth in assists, dishing 5.2 per game. Lower Columbia is West No. 4 seed (13-12). Soph F Ryan Rogers (Auburn Riverside) is team’s top player, and is a West Region all-star. West freshman of the year, frosh F Jan Konig (Germany), averages 8.0 rebounds.
Everett vs. Pierce, 8 p.m.
Everett is the North No. 4 seed (15-11). Soph G Connor Donaldson (Edmonds-Woodway) is a first-team North all-star. Frosh G David Ware (Las Vegas) is second in NWAACC in assists at 6.1, and he has 63 steals. Pierce is West No. 1 seed (23-4) and No. 4 in RPI Index. West coach of the year Bill Mendelson has the region’s MVP in soph G Tyrell Lewis (Rainier Beach), who averages 19.0 points and 8.0 rebounds. He also leads the entire NWAACC in steals with 96. Soph G John Palmer (Alaska) is a second-team West all-star, and frosh G Devin Matthews (Las Vegas) is fourth in assists at 5.5. Pierce Mid-Columbia connection: Soph F Derek Porter (Southridge).
Southwestern Oregon vs. Spokane, 10 p.m.
Southwestern Oregon is the South No. 2 seed (14-12). Soph PG Riley Grandinetti (Utah) is team’s top player, being a first-team South all-star. Frosh G Anthony Heintzman (Toutle Lake) is region’s freshman of the year. Spokane is East No. 3 seed (18-9). Sasquatch have two first-team all-stars in soph G Brady Bagby (West Valley-Spokane) and frosh F Kwinn Hanson (Northwest Christian-Spokane). Bagby leads the team scoring at 21.0 points, fifth-best in the NWAACC. Hanson grabs 8.0 rebounds per game.
