HOQUIAM -- Hanford grad Ryan Craig scored twice and Jesse Keen (Southridge) connected on a 29-yard field goal in the third quarter as Columbia Basin won the Northwest Community College Football League championship with a 16-6 victory over Green River at Olympic Stadium in Hoquiam.
"It took everything we had for this championship," said CBC coach James Gonzalez, who said that the rainy, sloppy field conditions provided some difficulties.
"It was a World War II quagmire," he said.
Craig had 19 carries for 68 yards in the contest and Lucas Urlacher (Pasco HS) had 11 carries for 19 yards.
Never miss a local story.
Gonzalez said that the scheduled matchup against Snow College Nov. 13 in Utah is still up in the air.
