Former Washington State basketball player Brock Motum is returning to the United States for a spot in the NBA.
The Australia native, who played in Italy after graduating from WSU, has signed with the Utah Jazz as a free agent. Terms were not disclosed.
Motum averaged 8.3 points and 3.3 rebounds last season with Granarolo Bologna of the Italian Serie A league. He appeared in five games with the Jazz during the 2014 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas and averaged 8.0 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists. He will play for Australia in the FIBA Basketball World Cup, which starts Saturday in Spain.
Motum played at WSU from 2009 to 2013. He ranks fifth on the Cougars’ all-time list in career points (1,530) and in field-goal percentage (.567). He led the Pac-12 Conference in points per game during his junior and senior seasons.
