Chance Kopacz hit a three-run homer in the first, bringing in Ben Ruff and Jared Jordan, and setting the tone for the Walla Walla Sweets' 9-2 West Coast League victory against the Portland Lobos at Borleske Stadium.
Matt Imhof opened for the Sweets and remained in charge on the mound through 4 2⁄3 innings. He gave up seven hits and two runs, one earned.
Joe Arlt got credit for the Walla Walla victory, as he gave up one hit and struck out four over 2 1⁄3 innings.
The win was a much-needed respite from the events of the past week.
Never miss a local story.
The Sweets were smarting from a winless six-game trip against Bend and Corvallis. Walla Walla last won June 6, edging the Kitsap Bluejackets 4-3.
