1987 -- Brothers Chris and Scott Johnson led their respective age groups halfway through the 72-hole Tri-City Junior Golf Tournament. Chris, who went on to play at the University of Southern California, was atop the boys 15-17 group by seven strokes after shooting 73-75--148 at Meadow Springs. Scott, who would star at Arizona State, was up nine in the 12-14 division with a 159.
1982 -- Dave Cortez stroked a two-run single and Pat Walker an RBI triple to lead a late Kennewick rally as the Dusters came back from a seven-run hole in the first inning to top defending champ Bellevue for a 10-8 win in the second round of the Senior American Legion state tournament at Parker Field in Yakima. Kennewick starter Russ Swan came back from that rough first inning and limited Bellevue to two hits over the next six innings.
