* 1986 -- The Richland girls soccer team improved to 9-0 overall and 4-0 in the Big Nine with a 9-0 win over Kennewick behind a pair of goals from Kristen Olson. The Bombers outscored their four league opponents 31-1. Meanwhile, Hanford remained unbeaten in the Mid-Valley with a 4-0 win over Toppenish thanks to a pair of goals each from Heather Connell and Julie Zirkle.
* 1974 -- Charlie Crawford ran for 157 yards and two TDs and Prosser pounded away for 251 yards on the ground in a 27-16 upset of two-time AA state champion Ellensburg. The win secured the Mustangs second place in the Mid-Valley League as top-ranked Sunnyside clinched the league title with a 25-8 win over Hanford. Nick Gonzalez had two of the Grizzlies' four interceptions of Falcons QB Lane Boolen.
* 1948 -- The NRA announced that Richland's Karl Warren Mundt, 15, had earned the Expert Rifleman Medal, the second highest award in American Junior shooting.
