Caitlin Clark Has Dethroned LeBron James In Jersey Sales
If you needed any further evidence that Caitlin Clark is a national basketball sensation that transcends both men's and women's basketball, the latest jersey sale numbers will help.
According to USA Today, Clark has sold more jerseys than LeBron James over the last two years. She is now second among all pro basketball players in sales behind only Steph Curry. LeBron is in third, Luka Doncic is fourth and Victor Wembanyama is fifth.
"Per multiple reports, the Indiana Fever superstar has officially surpassed LeBron James on the jersey sales list over the last two years. Clark now sits in second place on the leaderboard, just behind Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry," the outlet reported on Friday.
"Clark's sales are more than those of James (third) and Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Doncic (fourth). San Antonio Spurs forward Victor Wembanyama rounds out the top sellers list at five."
Records being broken
Clark has already turned the 2026 WNBA season into a record-breaking one. Over the past few games she has continued to extend her WNBA record for games with 20-plus points and 10-plus assists, and now sits at 12 for her career. She broke the record on May 15 in an overtime loss to the Washington Mystics.
Clark has become so successful that fans have long wondered if she's outgrown the league to the point where she should be dictating what she does and where she goes. That may be a discussion for a different day, but it's further evidence that "The Caitlin Clark Effect" is alive and well.
But it's also very impressive that LeBron and Steph - two NBA stars that fans and media people continue to insist are in the twilight of their careers - continue to dominate jersey sales. Doncic and Wembanyama are two of the top players in the league, and yet despite their ascending fame, they're not quite there yet.
Will Caitlin Clark be able to surpass all NBA players for jersey sales at any point?
