Yes, it's way late in the evening, but that's what I get for getting a few extra hours off and then heading out to the Southridge-Richland district soccer game.
But I finally have a chance to do my voting in this week's AP football poll.
4A
1, Bothell. 2, Jackson. 3, Auburn. 4, Skyline. 5, Wenatchee. 6, Curtis. 7, South Kitsap. 8, Mead. 9, Eisenhower. 10, Marysville-Pilchuck.
Comment This was my first chance to notice that Bothell had knocked off Skyline last Friday in what looks to have been as exciting a high school game as there's been this year around the state. So, how much do I knock Skyline on my ballot for losing to the team I had ranked No. 2? Not much, as it turns out -- just three spots, plopping it down just ahead of Wenatchee. Also, I flip-flopped Jackson and Auburn based upon reading about the suspension of UW recruit Chris Young from the Auburn team.
3A
1, Lakes. 2, Union. 3, Bellevue. 4, O'Dea. 5, Timberline. 6, Mount Spokane. 7, Meadowdale. 8, Liberty (Renton). 9, Peninsula. 10, Camas.
Comment Very little changes on the 3A ballot. Flip-flopped Peninsula and Camas after the Papermakers' close loss to Union.
2A
1, Ellensburg. 2, Archbishop Murphy. 3, Lynden. 4, Othello. 5, W.F. West. 6, West Valley (Spokane). 7, Mark Morris. 8, Burlington-Edison. 9, Cedarcrest. 10, Selah.
Comment The top five remain the same. The bottom half changes with losses by B-E, Black Hills and Selah. Black Hills is the only one to drop out, though, with Cedarcrest taking its place. Can't wait for Friday's Ellensburg-Othello showdown.
1A
1, Connell. 2, Montesano. 3, Cascade Christian. 4, Cashmere. 5, Zillah. 6, Vashon Island. 7, Meridian. 8, Royal. 9, River View. 10, Onalaska.
Comment Again, the top five were solid picks. However, losses by Nooksack Valley and Cascade shook up the bottom half. I'd missed Vashon's 8-1 season, so it gets put on the board, as does Meridian, which beat Nooksack Valley. My last three spots remained the same.
2B
1, Colfax. 2, La Salle. 3, Adna. 4, Tacoma Baptist. 5, Asotin. 6, Napavine. 7, Waitsburg-Prescott. 8, Naselle. 9, Willapa Valley. 10, Kittitas.
Comment Dropped Asotin down three spots after its loss to DeSales. Kittitas takes South Bend's spot at 10 after South Bend lost to Naselle.
Til next time ...
