This week's AP vote

Getting in my vote for the AP football rankings while listening to the Blazers' opener against Houston.

Oh, how I love the internet.

4A

1, Skyline. 2, Bothell. 3, Auburn. 4, Jackson. 5, Wenatchee. 6, Curtis. 7, South Kitsap. 8, Mead. 9, Eisenhower. 10, Marysville-Pilchuck.

Comment The top four remain rock-solid. Central Valley lost to G-Prep as the wild GSL playoff race continues to unfold. Mead won its fifth straight and is the hottest team up there, so the Panthers make their way onto my ballot. Ike creeps up a spot to No. 9.

3A

1, Lakes. 2, Union. 3, Bellevue. 4, O'Dea. 5, Timberline. 6, Mount Spokane. 7, Meadowdale. 8, Liberty (Renton). 9, Camas. 10, Peninsula.

Comment Bellevue's 27-21 win over previously unbeaten Liberty drops the Renton school down a few notches. Mount Spokane avoids having to forfeit its win over East Valley (check out the GSL playoff explanation in the same notebook) and moves up a spot with Liberty's loss. Peninsula beat my previous No. 10, Enumclaw, and takes the Hornets' spot on my ballot.

2A

1, Ellensburg. 2, Archbishop Murphy. 3, Lynden. 4, Othello. 5, W.F. West. 6, Burlington-Edison. 7, West Valley (Spokane). 8, Mark Morris. 9, Selah. 10, Black Hills.

Comment It's weird to do a 2A vote without Prosser in it. But the Mustangs drop out after their third loss of the season, with Black Hills taking their spot.

1A

1, Connell. 2, Montesano. 3, Cascade Christian. 4, Cashmere. 5, Zillah. 6, Nooksack Valley. 7, Cascade (Leavenworth). 8, Royal. 9, River View. 10, Onalaska.

Comment Lots of shakeup in the bottom half of my ballot, with Royal, Orting and Onalaska all losing. Nooksack, whom I'd overlooked all year, gets put in what appears to be its proper spot at 6, while Orting gets bumped out. Onalaska, like River View when it lost to Connell, doesn't get docked heavily for getting whacked by a real good Montesano team.

2B

1, Colfax. 2, Asotin. 3, La Salle. 4, Adna. 5, Tacoma Baptist. 6, Napavine. 7, Waitsburg-Prescott. 8, Naselle. 9, Willapa Valley. 10, South Bend.

Comment Only team on my top 10 to lose last week was W-P -- by 7, at Asotin. So I didn't drop the Cardinals much -- just one spot, in fact.

OK, I've lost the feed from Portland. Good thing I'm done voting, so now I can figure out what happened ...

Til next time
