AP polls return

The AP football rankings return this week, and first things first.

That means time for myself and my prep sports compadres to vote. As I have the past couple years, I will post my ballot here for everyone to dissect.

4A

1, Skyline. 2, Bothell. 3, Gonzaga Prep. 4, Auburn. 5, Eastlake. 6, Ferris. 7, Jackson. 8, Curtis. 9, Wenatchee. 10, Olympia.

Comment Skyline is one of the best teams this state has produced in a while -- comparable to a couple of the great Bellevue teams earlier this decade, including the one that ended De La Salle's national-record win streak. G-Prep upset Ferris and thus is the top eastside team on my ballot. Couldn't really justify more than one CBBN team, and Wenatchee so far has looked the best of the bunch.

3A

1, Bellevue. 2, Union. 3, Lakes. 4, Liberty (Issaquah). 5, Mount Spokane. 6, O'Dea. 7, Glacier Peak. 8, Ferndale. 9, Camas. 10, Olympic.

Comment Sorry, but couldn't knock Bellevue down for taking on one of Texas' best down in the Lone Star State.

2A

1, Ellensburg. 2, Prosser. 3, Archbishop Murphy. 4, Lynden. 5, Burlington-Edison. 6, Interlake. 7, Sequim. 8, W.F. West. 9, Selah. 10, West Valley (Spokane).

Comment Ellensburg and Prosser meet Oct. 9 at Fiker. Is that the day Prosser's long CWAC win streak ends?

1A

1, Connell. 2, Montesano. 3, Royal. 4, Orting. 5, Vashon Island. 6, Cascade Christian. 7, Cashmere. 8, Cascade (Leavenworth). 9, River View. 10, Zillah.

Comment Connell's win at defending state champion Cashmere impressed me. But this looks to be a deep classification. State playoffs should be interesting.

2B

1, Napavine. 2, Colfax. 3, Asotin. 4, La Salle. 5, Adna. 6, Naselle. 7, South Bend. 8, Tacoma Baptist. 9, DeSales. 10, Waitsburg-Prescott.

It's not just football that has rankings going on.
