Mendenhall makes his choice

Mi compadre Jack Millikin just got off the phone with Southridge QB Andrew Mendenhall.

Jack is working on a feature on Southridge's receiving tandem of Clayton Homme and Devin Jones (check out Friday's Herald), and he interviewed Mendenhall for the piece. During the interview, Mendenhall revealed that he has made a verbal commitment to the University of Oregon to play baseball next year.

The Ducks are reviving their program after a 28-year hiatus, and Mendenhall wants to be a part of the building process.

Mendenhall was a first-team All-Area outfielder last spring, hitting a team-high .444 with 10 doubles, six triples, 23 RBIs and 29 runs scored. He also stole seven bases.

Til next time ...
