Red Room books Josh Ritter, Blitzen Trapper

By Jeremy Dutton

July has become a big month for the Red Room concert venue in Kennewick. Already they've booked top indie act and the current favorite sons of the Portland music scene in Blitzen Trapper, but now they've added one of the best singer-songwriters in a generation in Josh Ritter — a native of Moscow, Idaho.

Ritter has put together two of the best albums seen in years with Animal Years and the Historical Conquests of Josh Ritter. And if you haven't heard either, it's about time to get with it in advance of his show set for July 17. Tickets are $15 and if any show were to sell out at this still-fledgling venue, this would be the one. Already I've talked to friends in Spokane who are going to snatch up tickets as soon as they are available. If you're interested, go to redroomcoffeeandconcerthouse.com and grab tickets while you can. This is not a show to miss.

As an added bonus, Portland indie-duo The Helio Sequence is set to open for Ritter. The band played at the venue earlier this year and put on one of the best shows seen at the venue to date. Again, you really don't want to miss this. Ritter has played recently with the Boston Pops and his latest albums have made him a darling among top critical circles.
