SASQUATCH 09: NIN will be tough to follow


GEORGE -- Nine Inch Nails gave the people what they wanted. Especially in a setting where hardcore fans and the casual listener (such as myself) are interspersed. It was the perfect mix of hits and uh, other songs. But it was all good. Trent Reznor belted tune after tune screaming into the mic like he was going to bite its head off.

Reznor reached back into "Pretty Hate Machine" playing "Head Like a Hole" and "Terrible Lie." He also dished out more of his industrial tunes combining the hard rock with soft and intermittent spaces of pause. Reznor also threw in "Hand That Feeds." Then he said Goodnight.

Wait. What? No "Hurt?" Just as soon as I thought it Reznor popped back on stage for an encore of "Hurt, the song about loss that Cash breathed new life into. It was just as you remember it though during the quieter moments of the song the band of Montreal, could be heard at the Wookie stage inadvertently interrupting.
