GEORGE -- Calexico just came off the Main Stage with the best set I've seen today. The band combines folk-rock and Mexican rhythms and horns to pull off an amazing multicultural hybrid.
They started their set with "Man-made Lake" and showed that they've got more talent than just about anybody here with their musicianship alone. Add their orchestration, a blistering horn section and a little accordion and you've got a recipe for the perfect band for a hot afternoon.
They also dedicated a song to fellow Californian and punk icon Mike Watt, who opened the day on the main stage.
